Minigame[]

A "minigame" (often abbreviated as "mini") is a small level, commonly containing platforming, obstacle navigation or anything that requires certain key presses to pass.

The boundaries of a minigame are distinguished by checkpoints, different colored blocks and so on. Many minigames are rectangular (see picture to the right) but they don't have to be. The following minigame elements describe common things used in minigames.

Hook Jump[]

Main article: Hook Jump

A highly overused minigame where you have to jump from a single block to another one directly 3 blocks above you. There are many variations of a Hook Jump that can make it easier or harder.

Pipe[]

A tube which the player must enter to continue through the level in the direction of the pipe. Commonly they will have gravity arrows through them in order to mimic the warp pipes in mario games. Sometimes there will be detours the player can take to get to different areas.

Art[]

A simple task where the player merely has to go past, around, or through pixel art.

Arrow Maze[]

A maze with dots and gravity arrows. Touch something too roughly, and you fly back to the start. Great hand coordination and mechanical ability are required with soft touches of the arrow keys.

Upper Maze[]

A maze where the player has one way to get up to the next platform; Holding down the jump button is helpful. These are commonly found in most minigames.

Stairs[]

Stairs are one of the most famous puzzle types, but they are seldom used today. Usually found in old-school EE minigames. You reach the top before someone else, they fall and have to restart. Keys are used in the making. Holding the space bar is a common tactic used to clear these as quickly as possible.
